Chromatic scales are perhaps not the best choice - because there's only one and it's about the same on every tuba.
The best choice is written material which meets two criteria:
a) you know it well enough to recognize when it's wrong
b) you need to look at the music to play it
You need to develop that eye-finger coordination - and you can only do that by using both eyes and fingers.
