Kenneth,
From your description, I assume it is an Eb helicon. There is no telling what various well-meaning individuals have done to it since it was new, and the mouthpipe situation really warrants looking into. I have a 1911 Buescher BBb helicon that I gig with, that had had the original upper mouthpipe tube replaced with a King or Olds tube. The bore taper did not line up, and the horn had nasty tendencies when I first got it. I did a bit of measuring, made a new mouthpipe tube, reassembled the neck on the new tube, made a new lower mouthpipe tube, too (old one had a hole in it). This horn plays as well as any horn I've ever owned.
