Here is the conn tuba that I am searching for an upright bell to fit. It appears to be able to seat a 2XJ series bell. Here are the questions:
1. Is it a 3XJ or 8XJ series? The bore is >803 at 2nd valve, and it has the long action valves that I have seen on the older 5J tubas in shape. (obviously bigger in size than the 5J's).
2. From those who play or have played such beasts, did thwey require bits?
I notice some 3rd partial intonation as well as the normal 5th partial problems.
Anyone with some history can enlighten us.
