I have one of those older 'nightmare' horns. I have a great solution... Send it to Matt Walters and get the valves lapped and no more locked valves. It never happened to me but I just didn't want to take the chance.
No contest. I'd never give up my HB2 for any horn right now. I've played it in bands, orchestras, quintets, tuba quartets, and solo literature and the sound and the strong tome it produces is just how a tuba should sound, in my opinion...

Buy a Hirshy... you're conductor will thank you for it.
