Extinction of the Tuba Section!

Our extremely poor and not-too-supportive of instrumental music school district currently has TWO band directors for FIVE schools. Although four of the school have band programs, there are only two tuba players in the entire district, both high school seniors.

Those two tubas must stay in the high school, but we are desperately in need of small tubas (two or more) for our middle school, so kids can start on these insruments young rather than converting from trumpet under pressure in high school. Not only is there no funding for purchasing tubas, but this year our instrumental repair budget was completely eliminated due to cutbacks!

It is a dark, dark time for low brass in Southern Delaware. Anyone have a lonely, unused tuba in their closet which is destined for the high calling of preventing the extinction of the tuba section in our school district? Or, in lieu of a tuba, does anyone have any advice for me, a band parent,as to how to obtain a tuba or two? Please email me! Thank you so much!
