Whatever you play for the audition, have it down COLD. The committee will prefer to hear something less challenging played very well, than to hear you hack your way through something that is over your head. If you are well prepared, they can tell what they need to know (i.e., sound, intonation, articulation, technique, rhythm, etc.) from just about anything on your list.

Also, be prepared to play your scales (major and minor). Once, when I was in high school, I won second chair all state just by having my scales down cold. I butchered my sight reading, but the audition committee could tell I was a decent player with a good sound just by the way I played my scales.
