I am playing a 4/4 CC tuba these days. I am thinking about getting a large tuba. I note that there are a lot of choices of large BBb tubas at considerably lower prices than large CC tubas. Anyway, if you're going to go for big, lower pitch is bigger.
Are there many tubists who routinely play both CC and BBb tubas? Or, do you find it too much work to maintain proficiency with both BBb and CC fingerings? How does this compare to the common combination of being proficient with CC and F tubas?
