Your post made me wonder how you were able to find out the date of manufacture on a Reynolds horn from its serial number. It's easy on some brands, like Conn and Besson, but with Reynolds long out of business, how do you find out? I also have a 4-valve Reynolds Eb sousa on indefinite loan from a tuba-playing friend, serial 23232, which was originally bought, he says, for the U.S. Army Air Corps. Also have two Reynolds trombones whose age I'd like to determine.
I tried using the Reynolds sousa with my Dixie group, but they encouraged me to go back to using my Mirafone Eb!
