The acousticoil is a round piece of plastic inserted into the tuning slide to increase air turbulence. The gentleman who created this product is a Denver man by the name of Don Novey. He taught junoir high here for many years. He is a very fine trumpet player and I once had the pleasure of playing a quintet gig with him. I bought one from him at the Greeley Co. Jazz festival a few years ago. The idea sounded bogus but I figured I would help the guy out and he offers a FULL MONEY BACK GARANTEE. I took the thing home and found out that it does seem to work. It improves the responce of my miraphone 1290 a bit and it is a bit easier to play. It's one of those minor improvement kind of things. No it won't add an octave of range or turn you into the next Jacobs but it may work to improve your playing a bit. Some of us need all of the help we can get. It always amazes me when suposedly intellegent (aren't all tuba players?) people trash things that they know nothing about.
