Of all the conductors I performed with, Eugene Corporon stands out as someone who really pulled out the best from the group. It was only a high school wind ensemble (at a band camp in 1979), but it made a great impression on me. I attended San Diego State University, the University of Michigan and Manhattan School of Music and never saw anything like it.
