My father's favorite BBb mouthpiece was a Fred Geib. Bill Bell didn't like the narrow rim, but my father did. At one time during the course of his lessons my father noticed that Bell had several Conn Geibs in his collection, and asked if he might buy one for his son (me) who was just getting started on tuba. Bell gave him two of them, and wrote a nice letter expressing concern that the Geibs "might be too big for the boy". I did start using one of them years later when I was in college, however. They were almost exact duplicates of the original Fred Geib mouthpiece, but were stamped "Conn Geib".
