At a conference years ago a household name in the horn world stated that in the lower range you use less air. Right after that I had lunch with Mr Jacobs before his session and told him about this. He told me "I don't want you to say anything about this even if you are right (about using more air)." In his session he got into this stating his tests at the University of Chicago. He closed that saying he respectfully disagrees with Mr X.
