I can't speak to what the various professional repair people use but I found a product called Horn Flush from Bell Products International that worked well for me. I used it on a couple of Sousas I bought on ebay and I got very good results. Please note that I was using it on Conn 14Ks destined for community band use not on a [fill in your favorite very expensive piece of brass here].
