The answer is indeed O-Ring cord stock. I like Buna-N for it's positive feel with minimum bounce back. You will find it at a Hydraulic shop as was already mentioned. Also try the telephone directory under "Rubber Products, Industrial". That will be the cheapest source as that is where the Hydraulic shops will get their stock to make custom O-rings. In US dollars you are talking about $.40 per foot. Sizes around 6mm diameter are what you need. Just get a foot of each of the 4 or 5 sizes around that (1/4 inch). Write down what size was big enough with minimal trimming, then every year or 2 when you replace the bumpers ( factory German bumpers rarely last longer than 1 year), get fresh cord stock as they get hard and brittle with age.
