I made this same mistake with my favorite Bach, the 18. My experience suggests not to waste your money. Side by side, there was no difference to me or others who were listening between the two. This comparison involved me playing on one mouthpiece after the other, the same tuba (a Rudolf Meinl 4/4 CC), and the same excerpts. This same comparison between a Conn Helleberg and the R&S counterpart yielded markedly noticable results. The only obvious difference to me is the extra mass on the R&S versus the Bach. So, my conclusion is that the Bach would probably enjoy the same positive effects if made in the style of the R&S clones. Hopefully, someone will try it...
