There was a 1935 Conn catalog on e-bay not long ago and they showed one of the tuba pages as a picture. It showed the 20J as the 3 valve forward bell top short action horn, 22J as the same horn 3 front short action valves, 24J as the 4 valve top short action and 26J as the 4 valve front short action version. I've always seen 25J as the 4 top short action top bell version. I didn't know they later used 34J for a version of the 2XJ series horns.
