I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who has had problems with the quality of Besson low brass instruments. I bought a Besson tuba about two years ago. Its sound is better than any tuba I have ever played (over 30+ years) but the quality of manufacture is the worst I have ever seen. Discoloration of finish, flux leaks at solder joints, adjustable thumb ring that won't stay in place, etc. I also own a Meinl-Weston. The Besson sounds better, but in 10 years the Besson will be ready for the junkyard and the Meinl will still be there, in good condition.
