Interesting about Oscar LaGasse. I remember seeing his picture in a Giardinelli catalouge from the late 70's when I was in high school. Pete used to talk about a tuba player from Detroit, possibly Oscar's teacher, who was astounding. Did radio and Vaudeville work. He could never remember his name, but said he was legendary in the area. Any ideas? Pete was at Michigan after you. He went to Northwestern, then to Singapore for a year, then to Michigan in the mid 80's before going to Virginia. Thanks for all your info, I have a great interest in the history of music in America in the 20th century, particullary in regards to low brass, your remarks have been elucidating.
