Nope, no Olympics. Staying as far from Sydney as possible. We will tour New Zealand in a campervan (RV to us) for about two weeks (less travel time), and then spend a week soaking up sun on the beach in Port Douglas, with maybe a bit of snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef thrown in.
Port Douglas is about as far from Sydney as you can get and still have the funny accent.
Think of it this way, if the Olympics were in Boston, we'd be honeymooning in Miami Beach.
