I play both instruments regularly. I recommend using a euphonium that accepts a large shank bass trombone mouthpiece. Mouthpieces with a large rim diameter work best for me.

If you intend to play tuba in the extreme high register, you must practice tuba and euphonium in equal amounts or your tuba high range will suffer. The euphonium embrochure (sp?) is not the same as the tuba embrochure, but with sufficient practice you can develop the ability to switch back and forth.
