Zanne,
I have successfully flown with a Rudy 3/4 in a German stock case, by stuffing the instrument bell (I used some of my Army fatigues), so that the bell rim did not touch the end of the case, and would not contact the end of the case unless encountering a shock of 4 G's or so. I then stuffed the rest of the case, so that the horn could not shift in the case at all, and locked all the latches. It's a laborious procedure, but protects your horn if you don't have an Anvil case to put it in.
This procedure was recommended to me by Rudy Meinl, Jr., in order to get my new 3/4 CC back to the US safely. It worked. By the way, Rudolf Meinl does not have a web site, but his phone # is 011-49-9161-2357. When calling, bear in mind that Central European Time is 6 hours ahead of Eastern Time in the US., or 1 hour ahead of GMT.
