The 201M is a shoulder version of the 201/321 top-action Yamaha (big Besson "knock-off"), as I understand it.

I have done a lot of nuisance mouthpipe repairs and "custom" (yeah right - "Joe, the MT customizer" - my big claim to fame) individual mouthpipe repositioning on 201M's. I greatly dislike playing these instruments, whether they be the "lap" version or the "chiropractor's special" version.

I enjoy you and your posts very much, Leland, AND most all of your opinions - just not the sound and playability of the YBB201's. As a big and healthy guy, I also DON'T like the idea of propping ANY big ol' upright tuba up on my shoulder for an extended period of time (nor would I have back at age 16-20) any more than I suspect a bass drummer would like setting his 4/4 - 6/4 device in that position.
