Before spending your money on a Besson, have you tried out the Yamaha pro-model euphonium (YEP-642)? More and more players are prefering this horn's tone and intonation. Recently a prominent player in one of the service bands in Wash. DC switched from the Willson 2900S to the YEP-642S after spending much time trying out, 'B&H's, Hirsbrunner's,
Meinl-Weston's, Sterling's, AND the Besson Prestige'. The bore of the 642 is .591 vs the .580 of the Besson instruments, so the tone is a bit darker.
Just my opinion.
