I think that the recent Besson's are much more poorly constructed than that of the past. I prefer the Sovereign's from the 80's myself because I feel they're a bit heavier. Recently I think they've been very careless in soldering, plating, and their valves are almost never good. Most of the valves have good action after you spend about a week oiling the crap out of them....but their alignment is almost always bad. (maybe one out of every dozen horns is good) That results in a stuffy horn with bad center of pitch and intonation. I was also not overly impressed with the Prestige model either....you can tell that much more care is being taken in the production of the prestige, but the valve allignment is still off on most of them. If I were you I'd seriously think about spending a little extra for a Willson. (you get what you pay for) OR, buy a Besson and send it right to Bob Reeves in LA. AB
