Get it fixed, have it buffed. No matter what anyone else says (who isn't a tuba player), you have a treasure. These horns are selling (in dilapitated condition to say the least) for around $5000-$6000 on Ebay. If you had an Eb, they sell for a little less than that. Evidentally, they have beautiful sounds and can be fine instruments for the rest of your son's student career.

I think even if you had it cut down to a CC and had more work done to it, he could use it professionally (am i right here??). I'm not saying this horn is worth all that much, but I believe the Chicago Symphony has 2 that are worth a pretty penny, although, those two tubas are the creme of the crop.

Anyway, I'm going to take off my "green with envy" glasses and go practice my horn.
