Hey all
It's that time of year again, time for me to put down the tuba, and play a crappie falling apart Conn Fiberglass Sousaphone . . . grrr. Anyway, our marching band is over 120 pieces and guess how many sousaphones? Just one, me. So i'm looking for any suggestions tweaks to improve my projection and volume. I currently am using a Back 18 MP. Now, i'm hear all about monsterweights and dampening the sound. And i got the thinking. If i reduce the amount the brass vibrates, i will project more, right? Well, if so, can i take a 1/4 diameter heavy duty rope and wrap most of the brass tubing?, or atleats the part that leads to the bell? Would this help? - I might be completly wrong, so pleace correct me if i am.
