My 50K3 valves are milled.

The concerns about a large area of mass to be moved are valid. Weight is another issue that would need addressed in the area of alternate valves.

Many people shy away from the bach k valves because of the weight involved in the 2 valve set-up. I sometimes get tired quicker than normal if I pick up my K3 for a long set.

As far as a narrow wrap on a thayer, I have seen one narrow second valve wrap on a double thayer bass. I don't know if it played as well as the more open wrap.

I would be amazed by the area needed for any of the afore mentioned valves to work on a tuba.
