I own a Walter Sear Antwerp Belgium model BBb 4 piston front action 4/4 tuba.
I can't say enough positive things about this horn.
I contacted Walter Sear regarding my horn & learned that he designed several in his years of playing. Often taking a model which was closest to his target ideal & then having the final product built by Cerveny, De Prins, and other companies which I cannot remember now. Importing them with his name stamped onto them.
He shared with me some of the details of design which resulted in my particular horn & I have been able to understand and play it better ever since. When ANY instrument is built as a custom product it becomes more specialized. This is true with guitars as well as tubas. Walter built horns to satisfy his own needs, first and foremost. After discussing the theory behind what causes the "notching" or "centering" effect of a tuba with Walter I gained a much broader understanding of what his designs were capable of & what went into the design of my particular horn. These are truly flexible Tubas.
