I was wondering myself. I just tested that very thing. We (Dillon Music) have in stock a MW 32 (5 valve) CC tuba with a goldbrass bell and some MW 25 BBb tubas. So I compared it to the MW 25 (4 valve) BBb with a goldbrass bell AND the MW 25E (5 valve) BBb with goldbrass bell.
Conclusion is they sound like sisters. Different but from the same family with the same genetic building block. The MW 25 had a slightly darker and heavier sound. No surprise there as it is larger than the MW 32 CC. The MW 25E with it's extra valve and the nickel silver rim had a more refined sound very similar to the MW 32. I have noticed that the nickel silver rim seems to lighten up the sound and response of the rotor Meinl Westons. Someone who can use a BBb instead of a CC can get a nice horn and save a few hundred dollars. At least, that is what I think. Matt
