Eb tuba was the first instrument of any kind I played.
The Summit NJ public schools started 4th graders on
instruments and for no good reason I chose tuba. That
was in 1956. I went to junior high in CLeveland Hts Ohio and
they had nothing but Eb's. Then in high school they
had all BBb's except for one Eb. I switched to BBb and played
that throughout college. As an adult I have owned and played both.
I was happy to see the resurgence of Eb's in the 90's and I now
play Eb exclusively (Besson 1983).
