in regards to your concern about the bell dents, I had an old Alex BBb until earlier this year, a 163 I believe, and the brass WAS exceptionally thin and, on the bright side, equally exceptionally maleable. with just a pretty hot wash cloth (not hot enough to potentially mar the lacquer), I'd let it sit on the dented area on the bell for just a minute, then with my fingers could roll the dent to a much smaller level. I was pleased with the results, considering the haphazard method and my lack of experience.
