The number on the front is the serial number. Miraphone does not put the model # on the tuba. I wish they would sometimes.
Miraphone makes great tubas. Miraphone has made alot of changes in the last 5 years and people that say they don't like them have not played them in the last 5 1 to 2 years much less than 5 to 6 years.
Most of your tuba companies are making the larger bows with hydraulics and it is a good thing and not a bad thing. UMI that makes King and Conn has been doing it for years. It makes these tubas very consistent in intonation but since they are assembled by different people each tuba in the same model has slightly different playing characterists.
It is tiring to see people post that they don't like them and if you ask them when was the last tiem they tried them and they tell you usually like 10 to 25 years ago.
THey should post how long ago they tried them and why they didn't like them. The BBb's are great tubas and so are the CC's and F's now. They just aren't BAT's and that is what everyone judges them by now.
They make great 4/4 tubas and the quality is one of the best if not the best and they strive to do it that way and one thing else you should know about them, they manufacture more tubas than anyone in the world per year than any other manufacturer.
No other company makes more than they do in one year and they have the highest standards and quality.
Miraphone is a great company and they make great tubas and still sell more tubas per year in the US than any other company.
Must be doing something right.
