I played a Holton TR-181 for over 20 years. I got it my freshman year in college. About 3 years ago I sold off a bunch of horns I had laying around and purchased an Edwards. I always liked the Holton but when I tried some custom horns like the Edwards and Shires, I couldn't believe the difference. You owe it to yourself to try some of these higher end horns. I know they aren't cheap but look at it this way, compared to the price of a tuba.....
Again, thanks for your post and best of luck to you in your continued pursuit of bass bone playing.
