I've just always felt that a person who refuses to do their best in the ensemble, and, after having been given the chance to change, refuses, is not hurting themselves as much as they hurt the whole group. Students who put effort into looking and sounding right see it go to waste if one member of a group effort refuses to commit or even try.
Those people whould do the group a favor and leave if they don't want to do it right.
