I'm not saying that whenever there's a problem, the solution is to blow harder. My most consistent problem is that I'm blowing air too hard/too fast. I realize that air does not solve all. But, in my experience, when I have problems with lip slurs it is more an issue of air control, not lip control. After all, the best lips in the world will not be able to produce a sound without air.
I recognize that some lip/muscle training is necessary, but I have found that the less I think about my lips and the more I think about my air, the more success I experience.
