Ethics, Schmethics. I know lots of P.E.'s who would design the bridge so heavy and costly that it wouldn't fall down, but it would milk you dry of money and time. That I wouldn't has nothing to do with my certification, believe me. And that is true in just about every profession.

I don't disagree with what you say, and wouldn't even seem to if I thought teacher certification had any reasonable connection to the things teachers ought to know to teach minor children. Marc's point is that the teaching one does in college has a much closer connection to those skills.
