Ken,
The traditional rotary setup has valve 1 and 2 using same port in valve when lever
is depressed for change. Valve 3 and 4 CHANGES port in valve and actually rotates
face of rotor across airstream due to opposite direction movement. This is prob due
to no more than tradition dating from original Graslitz designs for rotary tubas.
Valve 3 and 4 experience disruption due to this, i.e. "pop" or "bubble" in airstream.
