I agree. I have both shipped and received a tuba via Amtrak in the past month and both times it went well. If you live close to an Amtrak station that is also a package delivery drop off station (my terminolgy may be a little off) that is the best way to go. You can ship almost anywhere in the country for $40-$50. Amtrak seems to pride themselves in shipping musicial instruments.
