I've been a free-buzzer for a long time, long before I took up tuba. I could always free-buzz entire songs, in the tuba range, and it was even fun. Maybe that's why I haven't had a whole lot of trouble when I did take up tuba...the main problem has been adjusting to the restriction of the mouthpiece, and using more air than I need to free-buzz.
