I have not heard the Gourley recording so I cannot comment on it. However, I have the Fletcher and the Lind and although they are two of my favorite players (Fletch has been my idol for years), I do not like either of these recordings all that much. In fact, I think the Gregson mars (spelling?) an otherwise incredible Michael Lind CD. The recording I like the best is Tubist Lennart Nord with the Stockholm Symphonic Wind Orchestra (Caprice records, CAP 21414, issued in 1992). It was the first time I heard it with Wind Ensemble. I LOVE brass ensemble playing but I prefer this orchestration to the brass band one. I will probably go to tuba-h**l for that comment and have to listen to oboes and violas for eternity but there it is!

My 2 cents,

Michael Grant
