Interesting. When I was in the organ industry, after soldering I used to clean the pipes in an ultra sonic hot tub with Dawn. The pipes with the higher tin content would be rinsed and then polished with baking soda and a cotton cloth. If there were really sticky burned bits of sizing, we'd rub with a paste made from sizing.
For the 80% tin pipes, we'd use the best metal polish from Germany called Gundelputz. Excellent cleaner but requires lacquer thinner. The company that sells it recommends gasoline..........
