I spent about a week playing one of the small Weril 3/4 CC tubas. It's a really fun horn: a lot of flexibility and a really nice sound. They are very similar to the Yamaha 621 CC tubas like the one Chuck Daellenbach used to play in the 1980's. The horn seemed to be every bit as durable as most professional quality horns. If they're not quite as durable, the ultra-cheap price makes up for that. The sound is definitely a CC sound. Unfortunately, I remember nothing about the pitch, other than that it was definitely managable.
I like the horn. I think it would be great for a high school group.
