I also use the DEG tuba rest on gigs. There is a world of difference in almost everyone's playing when you don't have to manage the instrument as much as play the instrument.
As a side, I use a wenger tuba tamer to hold my instrument at home. That way, I can keep the horn off of the ground/floor most of the time.
I have my high school students use the DEG on the school tubas.
