You didn't mention when your horn was manufactured. If it was before about 1930, it's quitre possible that it was made to be in tune at A4=435 Hz. In other words, if it plays consistently 20 cents flat at A4=440, you know the probable reason. This situation often plagues flutists who purchase "vintage" flutes and piccolos, except that the situation is more serious for them, because while you can move a cork, you can't move toneholes.

But if this is the situation in your case, simply shortening the main tuning slide by about an inch on both sides should bring the horn into tune.
