Actually, unless he finds a very specialized dictionary, he will only get the German-English translation of the words for ordinary speech. It is quite possible that the terms, as applied to music, may have nuances not found in a translation dictionary. I agree that some basic research is called for, as offered by the first poster. An online translator will certainly give the basic translations quickly. Then, I think, advice from knowledgable musicians would be helpful. Unfortunately, my command of German is pretty much limited to words and phrases commonly used in travel, so I can't help there.
