Lots of great recordings of this, my favorite Mahler symphony. The ones that pop ionto my mind are:
Bernstein/Vienna Phil on DG - great playing all around with Lenny's interpretation. Lots of tuba!
Szell/Cleveland Orch - this was recorded right around the time Ron Bishop enterd the orchestra..perhaps one year afterwards. Great stuff.
Karajan/Berlin Phil - although the tuba is not as prominent as some might like, there is some fantastic playing on thsi recording and the interpretation is wonderful. One of my all-time favorites!
Solti/Chicago - Classic! What an amazing orchestra!
Levine/London Sym. - not always easy to find, but check your used CD shops. Fletcher sounds great.
