Well, actually it is a lot less. Bb below middle C on the piano has a wavelength of about 1.47 meters, or 4.78 feet. 57 Octaves below this would give a wavelength of about 545 feet. (given a speed of sound in air of 343 m/s, which may not make any sense in this discussion. To get the right number, you would have to know the composition and density of the gas that the event horizon of Black Hole is puking out.). Your puny 18 foot BBb Sousaphone would have to be stretched to about 270 feet to make that baby sing!!

Now, this whole discussion is bogus because sound simply does not propagate in a vacuum. Yes, I know that there is gas involved here, but that disperses quickly in a pressure wave in space (which is what is going on here).

I whole-heartedly agree that there may be some bell-exit effects here, but probably not 10+ light-years worth.
