it's happening on a rotary tuba as well, then it isn't your valve stroke. The linkage takes valve stroke problems out of the equation. Check the valve guide and make sure that it doesn't have a burr on it. Have you thoroughly cleaned the casing? Is the tuba new/newish? Is there a source for bits of slide grease to be sliding down into the valve section? Have you switched oils? Down the page a bit, there's a thread on BiNak- I've been using it on one of my piston horns and have had virtually no sticking- even after weeks without oiling. You have to clean all the old oil out before using it and follow the instructions, but after that, one bottle will last for months, possibly years.
