I am asking for help from the more experienced contributors to this BBS.
My community orchestra has just release the concert schedule for the year. I don’t have all that much experience with these pieces so I am seeking some guidance as to what to expect. Do all these pieces have a tuba part, if so, at what level of playing ability will be required? I am only a humble recreational playing with very modest abilities so I’d like to know ahead of time what to expect.
Here’s the concert list for the year:
Rossini – William Tell Overture
Saint Saens – Cello Concerto #1
Dvorak – Symphony #7
Sibelius – Karelia Suite
Mozart – Symphonie Concertante for winds & orchestra
Bizet – L ‘Arlesienne Suite #2
Respighi – Ancient Airs and Dances: Bergamasque from Suite #2
Milton Barnes – Ceremonial Overture
Lalo – Symphonie Espagnole
Brahms – Serenade in D
Holst – The Planets: Jupiter and Mars
Stravinsky – Firebird: Berceuse & Finale
