In the last year or so (I'm 54) I have noticed that my upper lip, in particular, quivers uncontrollably at the beginning of my playing. Now, I'm not sure how much of that is due to the fact that I really laid off practicing seriously in the last year, or if it's age, or whatever. It's not focal dystonia because it goes away as I warm up, and hasn't gotten significantly worse over time. But having started my first brass instrument at age 45, I certainly did notice a longer time span to build musculature than what my teachers expected of me (the ones that expected anything at all.)
